LPS Google Apps

LPS has now implemented Google Apps for Education. That’s a complicated and involved topic but what it means, in a nutshell, is that all AHS students (unless they opt-out of computer use altogether) will have an LPS-branded Google Apps account. This will give them an LPS-branded gmail account, Google Docs, Google Calendar, Google Sites, Google Groups, Google Moderator and Aviary (and more apps may be added in the future). Students can use their LPS Google Apps email to create a Google account outside of Google Apps if they need to access tools that are not available within Google Apps.

Students and parents will be able to login to the parent portal and see each student’s Google Apps login and password via the new technology tab.

The URL to get to LPS Google Apps is http://www.lpsk12.org, it’s on the AHS Start Pages at school, and the AHS website (on the left side of the main page). We’re asking students to use this as their primary email address for all school-related work at AHS. Teachers will use it regularly for electronic communications with students, students can use it to communicate with other students about schoolwork and other school-related topics, and the suite of applications within Google Apps will also use this email address for notification purposes. Students should regularly check this email to keep on top of this.

If you have any questions about LPS Google Apps, or have difficulty logging in, please see Mr. Fisch in the Technology Support Office (just east of the Media Center).
