 Life's not about expecting,
hoping and wishing,
it's about doing,
being and becoming.
It's about the choices you've just made,
and the ones you're about to make,
it's about the things you choose to say-today.
It's about what you're gonna do after you finish reading this.
-Mike Dooley

"What great thing would you attempt if you knew you could not fail?"
-Dr. Robert H. Schuller

"Everyone has inside them a piece of good news.  The good news is that you don't yet realize how great you can be!  How much you can love!  What you can accomplish!  And what your potential is."
-Anne Frank

The only real voyage consists not of seeking new landscapes,
but in having new eyes; in seeing the universe through
the eyes of another, one hundred others-
in seeing the hundred universes that each of them sees."
-Marcel Proust

 About Mrs. Comp

"The one piece of advice which will contribute to making you a better leader,
will provide you with greater happiness and will advance your career more than any other advice...
and it doesn't call for a special personality or any certain chemistry...
and any one of you can do it.
And that advice is: You must care."
-Lt. General Melvin Zais

ABOUT ME:

  • I am a Denver native-born in Englewood, CO.
  • I attended AHS from 1992-1996-played Varsity soccer for 4 years-won state in 1993, 1995-All-State in 95 and 96
  • I am the third member of my family to have a career here at AHS: My dad, Paul Nelson, has retired from teaching and coaching; my uncle, Larry Nelson, has passed, but the Warrior Baseball field is dedicated in his honor.  I have grown up with this school my entire life and I love teaching and coaching at this fabulous high school.  As a youngster, rollerskating through the halls, being a watergirl for the football team, going to games with my dad, playing in the hall, I have grown with this school.
I went to the University of Denver on a soccer scholarship and played 4 years there.  Conitnued to coach here at AHS on my off seasons.

This is my 8th year teaching-7th at AHS

I Love:

  • Sports-all of them-the NFL is the best!  I am a HUGE Bronco fan!
  • My husband, Jason, who is a Cheesehead
  • My English Bulldog, Lulu and my new 64 pound bull-dog/lapdog, Chico
  • My life sport, soccer-the sport I played my entire life and continue to coach
  • Writing-my life ambition is to write...something good perhaps!
  • Travel-Oh, the places I have been!
  • Music and Concert Going-I love all types of music-some favs: Dave Matthews Band, Tool, Rodrigo y Gabriela, The Foo Fighters, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Led Zeppelin, Rage Against the Machine, Pearl Jam, The Police, Alicia Keyes, Metallica, Alana Davis, Bob Marley-just to name some!
  • All things Disney-for the kid in us all
  • Movies
  • Cooking
  • My family and friends
  • My job/my students who continually inspire me and make me better
  • Humor-those who laugh at and with me, or those who can laugh at themselves or make me laugh
