Opportunities

• Students may use the Library/Media Center on their unscheduled hours for studying individually or in small groups.
• The intensive study area is designated as a quiet area where students can work individually.
• Computers are available for school assignments.

Expectations

• Food and drink are not allowed in the Library or Computer Labs.
• Students are expected to be courteous to one another and to the Library staff.
• To check out materials, students must show their school I.D. cards.

Electronic devices use policy for the library

• The main reason the LPS Pod Net exists is to permit students to have access to online resources in order to be successful in school.
• When using your electronic device (such as iPods, MP3 players, cell phones, laptop computers) please be respectful to not distract others or call attention to yourself.
• Examples of distractive behavior or use include, but are not limited to:
  • Talking on your cell phone
  • Allowing your cell phone to ring or vibrate (it should always be set to silent while in the library or a classroom)
  • Playing your iPod, MP3 player, music device so that others can hear it
  • Talking to others in a loud voice because you are listening to your iPod, MP3 player, music device, etc. 
  • Multiple students together playing a game on their graphing calculator, cell phone, laptop computer, etc.
  • Multiple students together viewing a video for entertainment
  • Playing a video on your laptop without using earphones

Internet Opt-Out Policy

Student use of the Internet for purposes of research and retrieval of current information related to curricular content areas is a generally accepted practice and is considered an essential instructional tool, thus it comes under the opt-out category. Littleton Public Schools uses a district-wide filtering service. If a student/parent decides that the Internet should not be used as an instructional/learning tool, the student/parent may pick up and complete an Internet Opt-Out Form in the Arapahoe High School Library Media Center. It is the responsibility of the student to notify his/her teachers that he/she cannot use the Internet for class assignments. It is also the responsibility of the student to refrain from using the Internet at Arapahoe High School.
