Arapahoe Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs Receive Special Awards

 

Centennial, Colorado— Arapahoe High School’s traditional jazz combo, the Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs, was awarded two special awards at the 2009 Mile High Jazz Festival.  Madison Munn, junior clarinetist, was awarded a special plaque for being named the best jazz clarinetist at the three-day festival.  The Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs also received a special plaque award for being named the most outstanding jazz combo at the festival.  In addition, Dr. Ed Cannava, Director of Bands at Arapahoe High School, received the prestigious Mel and Geraldine Flesher Excellence in Jazz Award at this year’s Mile High Jazz Festival.  Only four prior awards have been given in the 40-year history of the festival.
