Arapahoe Warrior Marching Band Places 2nd at Friendship Cup

 

Centennial, Colorado—The Arapahoe High School Warrior Marching Band, under the direction of Dr. Ed Cannava, placed 2nd out of 19 competing units at the October 11, 2008 Friendship Cup.  Arapahoe scored a season high 79.20 points.  The Warrior Band had the top individual music score out of all competing bands.

 

Arapahoe’s 2008 field show is “Triumph of the Valiant!” featuring “Pacem”; “Night on Bald Mountain”; “Ballad from Firebird Suite”; and “Transylvanian Horses” from the motion picture Van Helsing.  Wind Arrangements are by Scott Hickey; Percussion Score is by Doug Rosener; and Visual Design is by Craig Harms and Kenny Bailey.

 

The Arapahoe Band is led by drum majors Melanie Brown and Alyssa Barton.  The Warrior Band’s section leaders include:  Emily Haller, Flute; Nicole Jensen, Clarinet; Jordan Flatt, Saxophone; Vikky DeLaTorre, Trumpet; Blair Larson, Mellophone; Vince DeLaTorre, Low Brass; Molly Phenix, Percussion; and Ashley Howald, Color Guard.  The Warrior Band’s squad leaders include:  Kelly Churchill, Flute; Donna Villanyi, Clarinet; Tyler Gehring, Alto Sax; Jordan Leak, Mellophone; Krissy Cloyes and Sarah Churchill, Color Guard; and Jake Mirow coordinates the Front Ensemble Percussion Section.
