Arapahoe Marching Band—5A State Bronze Medalists for 2008

 

Centennial, Colorado—The Arapahoe High School Warrior Marching Band, under the direction of Dr. Ed Cannava, performed to the level of State Champion Bronze Medalists (3rd Place) at Invesco Field on October 25, 2008.  This is the fourth time in Arapahoe High School history that the band has reached the top three at the State Championships.  The Warrior Marching Band has placed no lower than 3rd at State since 2004.

 

The band scored 80.40 points—just 2.35 points out of 1st place.  Arapahoe placed 1st in the Visual-General Effect caption and 2nd in the Individual-Visual caption.

 

Arapahoe’s 2008 field show is “Triumph of the Valiant!” featuring “Pacem”; “Night on Bald Mountain”; “Ballad from Firebird Suite”; and “Transylvanian Horses” from the motion picture Van Helsing.  Wind Arrangements are by Scott Hickey; Percussion Score is by Doug Rosener; and Visual Design is by Craig Harms and Kenny Bailey.

 

The Arapahoe Band is led by drum majors Melanie Brown and Alyssa Barton.  The Warrior Band’s section leaders include:  Emily Haller, Flute; Nicole Jensen, Clarinet; Jordan Flatt, Saxophone; Jordan Leak, Trumpet; Blair Larson, Mellophone; Vince DeLaTorre, Low Brass; Molly Phenix, Percussion; and Ashley Howald, Color Guard.  The Warrior Band’s squad leaders include:  Kelly Churchill, Flute; Donna Villanyi, Clarinet; Tyler Gehring, Alto Sax; Jordan Leak, Mellophone; Krissy Cloyes and Sarah Churchill, Color Guard; and Jake Mirow coordinates the Front Ensemble Percussion Section.
