Arapahoe Places 1^st in 5A at CSU Marching Band Showcase

Centennial, Colorado—The Arapahoe High School Warrior Marching Band, under the direction of Dr. Ed Cannava, placed first in 5A at the September 27, 2008 CSU Marching Band Showcase. Arapahoe also placed first in all music, one visual and two effect captions.

Arapahoe’s 2008 field show is “Triumph of the Valiant!” featuring “Pacem”; “Night on Bald Mountain”; “Ballad from Firebird Suite”; and “Transylvanian Horses” from the motion picture Van Helsing. Wind Arrangements are by Scott Hickey; Percussion Score is by Doug Rosener; and Visual Design is by Craig Harms and Kenny Bailey.

The Arapahoe Band is led by drum majors Melanie Brown and Alyssa Barton. The Warrior Band’s section leaders include: Emily Haller, Flute; Nicole Jensen, Clarinet; Jordan Flatt, Saxophone; Vikky DeLaTorre, Trumpet; Blair Larson, Mellophone; Vince DeLaTorre, Low Brass; Molly Phenix, Percussion; and Ashley Howald, Color Guard. The Warrior Band’s squad leaders include: Kelly Churchill, Flute; Donna Villanyi, Clarinet; Tyler Gehring, Alto Sax; Jordan Leak, Mellophone; Krissy Cloyes and Sarah Churchill, Color Guard; and Jake Mirow coordinates the Front Ensemble Percussion Section.

Arapahoe’s Band Staff includes: Fred Bowlus, Matt Clarkson and Lauren Maxwell, Percussion; Kenny Bailey and Nikki Camps, Color Guard; Dave Hurd, Bruce Fox, Steve Iliff and Brad Neilson, Visual; Heather Davis, Clarinet; Fran Piazza, Flute; Tait Solberg, Saxophone; Missy Steinbock, Trumpet; Ron Torp, Mellophone; and Charlie Ortega, Low Brass.
