Student Share Account Policy

1.      Funds can be generated for a student's Share Account through approved fund raising activities of the AHS Band Program. Cash donations cannot be deposited into student's Share Accounts.

2.      The General Treasurer has the authority to transfer available funds from a student's Share Account to pay any delinquent fees of the individual student.

3.      Balance Transfers: A Share Account balance may be transferred to a sibling who is participating in the AHS Band Program. The ONLY other approved balance transfer may occur in the case of a graduating senior band student who continues to participate in the band program at least through the 1st semester of his/her senior year.

4.      Balance Transfers for Graduating Seniors: Upon acceptance to a college or post-high school continuing education program, the balance of a Share Account may be transferred directly to that college or program. Checks will not be written directly to students or parents for payment of fees - only to the institution. Such balance transfers must be requested in writing and requests must be received no later than October 1st following the student's graduation from Arapahoe High School. Any balances remaining after October 1st will be transferred into the Scholarship Fund to be used for students with financial need.

5.      Upon withdrawal from the band program or from AHS the balance of funds in that student's Share Account will transfer into the Scholarship Fund; items 3 & 4 are the ONLY exceptions to this policy.

6.      In the event of a band trip refund where Share Account funds have been used to make payments on a trip, an amount equal to the sum of all Share Account transfers must be returned to the student's account first, and only the remaining balance of the refund will be returned as a monetary refund.

7.  The following are appropriate uses of Share Account funds:

a.       Trip payments.

b.      Books and equipment required by the AHS band program purchased

through the school.

c.      Instrument Rentals arranged through AHS.

d.      District Activity Fee required by and paid to AHS.

f.   Private Lessons

8.  To use Share Account funds, you must submit a Share Account Transfer Request Form to the treasurer. A copy of this form is included in this handbook. You may also send the treasurer an e-mail.
