AHS Dixie Dawgs to Perform at Sutton’s 8th Rocky Mountain Jazz Party

 

Centennial, Colorado—The Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs from Arapahoe High School have been invited to perform at the 8th Annual Sutton’s Rocky Mountain Jazz Party on October 7, 2007. Arapahoe’s combo is the only youth band performing at the 2007 festival. The 2007 Jazz Party takes place from October 5 through 7, and is located at the Four Points by Sheraton Denver Southeast (6363 E. Hampden Ave.).  Twenty three professional artists will perform from all across the country.

 

The Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs will perform on Sunday, October 7 starting at noon. Professional sets will continue through the afternoon until 5:30 p.m. The Dixie Dawgs have performed in the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee six times, and in 2003, 2006, and 2007, won the prestigious Downbeat National Music Magazine’s Outstanding Jazz Performance Award.

 

Members of the Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs include: Madison Munn (clarinet), Eddie Lyon (tenor sax), Melanie Brown (cornet), Dave Ellis (trombone), Nicole Jensen (banjo), Wes Leffingwell (piano), Alex James (tuba), and Kevin Matthews (drums).
