Arapahoe Music Program Selected as a Grammy Signature School Finalist

Centennial, Colorado-- The Arapahoe High School Music Program has been selected by the Grammy Foundation as a 2008 Grammy Signature School Finalist. Only 128 high schools from across the United States were selected for this honor.

Schools submitted applications that demonstrated the breadth of their music program. Of the 128 finalists, only a select number will be named Grammy Signature Schools. Each Grammy Signature School will receive an award and a monetary grant ranging from $1000 to $25,000.

For the final phase of the program, Arapahoe will be sending an audio recording to the Grammy Foundation, including selections from Concert Choir, Choralettes, Arapahoe Singers, Symphonic Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble I, The Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs, and the Warrior Marching Band. Arapahoe also sent in sample concert programs over the last year.

Ms. Kelly Parmenter is the Performing Arts Chair, Vocal Music Director, and Orchestra Director at Arapahoe High School. Dr. Ed Cannava directs the bands, jazz program, and small ensembles at Arapahoe.
