Incoming Freshmen Math Skills Assessment & Resources

The purpose of this website is to provide incoming freshmen the opportunity to self-assess and improve their mathematical skills in four areas that are essential for success in mathematics at Arapahoe. The following activities are designed to help you determine which areas you are proficient in and which areas with which you might need extra practice. By working through the activities on this website over the summer before your freshmen year, you will be much better prepared to be successful in your mathematics classes at AHS.

 Directions

For each of the following four skill areas, we provide you with a short initial pretest to determine your current skill level. If you are proficient on that skill test, you may move to another skill area. If the pretest shows that you need some extra practice in that skill area, we provide multiple links to resources that both explain and provide you with practice opportunities. You will then have the opportunity to take additional pretests in that skill area to determine if you are now proficient. Once you've mastered that area, you can then move on to another skill area. If after working through the resources provided you are still struggling in a particular area, talk to your math teacher during the first week of school to develop a plan for success.

Here are the links to the four skill areas:

  1. Adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers.
  2. Multiplying and dividing fractions and mixed numbers.
  3. Adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing integers.
  4. Order of Operations.

Once you have completed all four sections, please return to this page and fill out the short survey below. Thank you.
