In Littleton Public Schools, we are committed to fostering a culture where every student feels safe, supported, and ready to learn. October is Safe Schools Month, a time to come together as a community to raise awareness about the importance of safety, wellbeing, and belonging in our schools.
Throughout the month, students, staff, and families can take part in a variety of events, activities, and access helpful resources, all designed to strengthen the safety and success of our schools.
Thank you for being a vital part of what makes our community stronger and safer!
Events and Important Dates
Annual Climate, Safety, and Wellness Inventory (CSWI)
As part of our ongoing efforts to support students and promote a safe and healthy culture in all of our schools, LPS uses a climate, safety, and wellness survey to gather feedback from students, staff, and families. This year the survey will be implemented for LPS students in Grades 3–12+ between November 3 and December 12, 2025.
This brief electronic survey, developed by LPS, is completely anonymous (no names are recorded and no identifying information is attached to specific responses). We believe that gathering this feedback helps us adapt and improve our efforts to support students and create safe and supportive learning environments.
Students will be given time to take the survey during the school day but will not be penalized if they choose not to participate. You can find details about the survey questions and the opt-out process on the Social, Emotional, and Behavior page of the district website under the "School Climate, Safety & Wellness Surveys" collapsible content. Please return opt out forms to the school office or email no later than October 31, 2025.
Living Works START Online Suicide Prevention Training
The START training, offered by Living Works, is an online training where participants learn a powerful four-step model to keep someone safe from suicide. It even has built-in opportunities to practice using impactful situations. The program is being offered for free through LPS for the month of October. Register for the START training to receive your online access code by email. Please allow for 90 minutes to complete the training. You can take the training at your own pace. Participants must be 13 years old and up.
LPS Poetry Slam
All LPS high school students are invited to participate in our 15th Annual Poetry Slam event focused on healthy self-expression. The Poetry Slam will be held at Options High School on November 11, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. Interested students should contact their English Department for more information.
First Aid/CPR/AED Training
Sponsored by LPS Security, these trainings are open to all LPS parents, community members, and youth above the age of 11. The two-year certification cost is $44. Participants must make payment arrangements prior to attending the course. Various dates are available. To get more information and enroll in a course, contact Leah Raymond. The classes are held in the evenings, and multiple sessions are offered throughout the year.
Immunization Compliance
For our students’ health and safety and as required by the state of Colorado and LPS board policy, we are required to have a current immunization record or exemption on file for all students.
Compliance with the immunization expectations is required for enrollment and attendance in LPS schools unless the student has a valid exemption for medical or non-medical reasons.
Per state law and LPS board policy, students who remain non-compliant with their immunizations will be excluded from school beginning November 7, 2025.
